A Young and Confident English Enthusiast: My Self-Introduction

Introducing oneself is essential in every social situation, and it is important to make a lasting impression. As a junior high school student, I am still in the process of discovering my passions and building my character. Nevertheless, I am enthusiastic and confident in my pursuit of English learning, and I would like to share my story with you.

My Background

I was born and raised in a suburb of Beijing, China. Mandarin is my mother tongue, but I started learning English when I was six years old. I attended a bilingual elementary school, where half of the classes were taught in English. Later, I transferred to a local school, which had a better reputation in terms of English instruction. I have been studying English for almost nine years now and plan to continue my education in this field.

My Motivations

Why am I so passionate about English? Firstly, I admire the beauty and richness of the language. English enables me to communicate with people from all over the world, understand diverse cultures and literature, and broaden my horizons. Secondly, I believe that mastering English is necessary for my future academic and career opportunities. China is becoming more and more open to the world, and English proficiency is a valuable asset in many fields. Finally, I simply enjoy the process of learning and practicing English. It challenges me, stimulates my creativity, and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

My Achievements

I have been dedicated to English learning both inside and outside of school. In school, I consistently rank among the top performers in English classes and exams. I have won several awards in the English speaking and writing competitions held by my school and local educational institutions. Outside of school, I attend English training courses, read English articles and books, watch English TV shows and movies, and practice speaking with my English-speaking friends online. I have achieved a high level of proficiency in all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Moreover, I have developed a great interest in English literature and creative writing. I have written several short stories and poems in English, and I hope to publish them someday.
